Thoughts/Comments/Review: Duff's book was a very interesting read for me. In the heyday of Guns N Roses he was my favorite, If i had a list of favorite bass players he'd be on the list, his solo album "Believe in Me" gave me a whole new appreciation for his talents. After reading this book I was inspired. After almost dieing from a ruptured Pancreas due to excessive drinking and drugs, he kept clean by getting into fitness and kickboxing. He talks candidly about his trials and tribulations. He did not make any pot shots towards any of his former bandmates. He was the dude who would get along with everybody, ironically he was the last original member of GNR to quit. He was not fired he quit. I think what stood out to me the most in his book was how he faced a wall and then found a way to get past it. He would not quit and would not take no for an answer. How he went from musician, to college graduate to a businessman and a regular writer. I do think the book started out slow but for me it quickly picked up. I had no problem reading through this book and down the road I can see myself reading it a second time. I do wish however he talked about the recording process for their covers album and the live album. Ah well either way it was a very good read and any fan of Guns N Roses, Velvet Revolver, Loaded, 10 Minute Warning or just a Duff McKagan fan should pick this up and give it a read.
